SAFE DRIVING MODULES (20-30 minutes each)

The Avoiding Fixed Objects Module is designed to identify the reasons why drivers collide with fixed objects, and offers safe driving techniques to help drivers avoid these preventable collisions. Every year, the # 1 preventable collision involving company fleets is hitting fixed objects. What’s the key characteristic of these collisions? They are 100% preventable by the driver!

One out of four vehicle collisions can be blamed on poor backing techniques and backing collisions cause 500 deaths and 15,000 injuries per year. The Backing and Parking Strategies module is designed to offer safe driving techniques to help drivers avoid these preventable collisions.

The Lane Management Module will give you the knowledge to use traffic lanes properly and the safe-driving techniques to prevent lane-related collisions. This module focuses on two of the deadliest driving behaviors: driving left of center risking a head-on collisions (deadliest type of crash) and tailgating which can result in rear-end collisions.

Intersections are a planned location where vehicles traveling on different highways may come into conflict. The different approaches and crossing movements by motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians make intersections one of the most complex traffic situations that people encounter. The new Intersections module analyzes the reasons why drivers collide at intersections, and offers defensive driving procedures to avoid these deadly crashes.

Did you know that every year, according to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 1 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics? Drugs other than alcohol are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs, prescription and non-prescription, are often used in combination with alcohol. The Avoiding Impaired Driving teaches practical, common sense techniques to avoid reckless impaired drivers on our highways.

The Speed Management module is designed to address one of the most prevalent factors contributing to traffic crashes and the tremendous cost to businesses and society.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the annual economic cost to society of speeding-related crashes is $40.4 billion. In 2011, speeding was a contributing factor in 30 percent of all fatal crashes, and 9,944 lives were lost in speeding-related crashes.

Extreme weather and road conditions make driving dangerous and stressful. It effects your ability to see and maneuver your vehicle. Be prepared for the worst by taking the new defensive driving module on Weather and Road Conditions.

Aggressive driving is defined as driving any type of vehicle or affecting any type of maneuver on a vehicle in which the driver deliberately behaves in such a manner as to increase the risk of a road collision. Are you an aggressive driver? How can you avoid aggressive drivers? Find out how to avoid aggressive drivers (and keep from becoming one) by completing the Avoiding Aggressive Driving module.

An estimated 1 in 25 adult drivers (aged 18 years or older) report having fallen asleep while driving in the previous 30 days (Centers For Disease Control and Prevention) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that drowsy driving was responsible for 72,000 crashes, 44,000 injuries, and 800 deaths in 2013. Learn the warning signs of drowsy driving by completing the new Avoiding Fatigued Driving module.
